I had the opportunity to interview the owner/creator of " baby jack blankets" and here is that interview :
1.)First, tell me a little about yourself, who you are, what you do for fun other than making baby jack blankets :)
My name is Kelley and I am a stay at home mom. I enjoy life with my 15 month old son and amazing husband of three years, Brian. I enjoy traveling, watching movies & my TV shows and scrapbooking with my Mother in law. I am a celebrity junkie and get daily updates on Facebook from People.com. I am a very organized person and enjoy planning any sort of party, playdate or celebration and usually go overboard with decorations. Love is in the deails, right?
2.) What made you start making blanket's?
My son was born in February 2009 and upon my return from maternity leave, I as let go from my job of four years as a marketing assistant. I understood that in this recession, times are tough so I decided to turn lemons into lemonade; I used this time to educate myself and find a different creative outlet, sewing.
3.)Why the name " baby jack " ?
My son's name is Jackson and whenever his Nana (Grandma Nancy) would visit, she would say "Oh there's my baby Jack" and it just stuck. I needed a name that would continue to inspire me the way my son does on a daily basis. He's the "CEO" of the biz.. lol
4.)What is your favorite 2 fabric prints to use for blankets?
I believe that I have a fabric for every little one's personality. The problem is that their personalities are emerging. Some days my favorite fabric for Jack is Sesame Street or Toy Story, other days it's the ABCs Blue pattern I use to educate him while we snuggle or the Wisconsin Badgers. According to his dad, he'll be a Badger fan for life so he sleeps with that one every night.
If I had a little girl, I would choose the Sweet Sayings pattern or the May Flowers w/ green minky dot backing. It reminds me of a bed of flowers. So cute!
5.)What are the prices of baby jack products??
I sell three products: 1) square handies that start at $3 and up. 2) basic blankets are 19" x 29" and are $18 and up w/ $3 charge for minky dot backing. 3) double blankets are 30" x 36" and are $40.
My basic blankets are the items that I promote the most. To me, they are the perfect size for the crib, stroller or car seat and are not bulky and easy to travel with. My son Jack has one in every room of the house and in each car!
I offer alot of discounts on my facebook fan page so please visit us for daily promos. Also, I am always happy to customize your order.
6.)When you started making blankets did you ever think you'd turn it into a job instead of just a hobby??
I still consider making baby Jack blankets as a hobby. I am still continuing to build my fan base and increase traffic to my websites. I feel that this will always be a hobby to me as long as I am enjoying it. It's my creative outlet and I find it amazing that i get paid for doing it. I get so much joy seeing how happy my creations make my customers and the greatest compliment to me is seeing pictures of little ones with their blanket. That to me is worth a lot more than the money it brings in.
